There is a growing need for carefully designed shading systems on the building market due to an increasing use of large window openings and curtain walls in today´s most architecture. PV modules different shapes and forms can be used as shading element above windows or as part of a roof structure. The use of PV module by building elements helps to reduce the total costs of such a PV installation and to create added values to the PV as well as to the building and its shading system. New market opportunities for PV could be developed if a mass production of PV shading elements could be achieved. Therefore, In this paper 15kW grid- connected shading BIPV systems, which are applied reused PV modules, have been installed and monitored at Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) and also monitoring system has been constructed for measuring and analyzing performance of PV system to observe the overall effect of environmental conditions on their operation characteristics.
The objective of this paper is not only to evaluate and analyze the overall performance of PV systems application through long-term field test but also to develop evaluation, analysis and optimization technology for long-term stability and reliability of PV systems and to show feasibility of reused PV module.
