The purpose of this paper is to analyse the contents and actual conditions of political education in North Korea. In this study, political education is conceptualized as political indoctrination. It can also be defined as propaganda and agitation for instilling revolutionary ideology into people.
North Korean political leader, Kim il Sung seems to have understood the necessity and importance of public persuasion from the beginning of his sovereignty. So he tried to focus the public continuously on persuasion in the process of its revolution and development. And he took a serious view of the political education. The result of the study are as follow.
First, the key contents of political education are 'Juche idea education', 'Class consciousness education', 'Collectivism education' and 'Socialistic patriotism education'. And one of the important goals of the political education is idolization of the political leader, Kim Il Sung.
Secondly, one of the important method of political education is persuasion that is based on the explanation. And the typical means of the political education is propagation and agitation. Moreover the political education is performed effectively in social organizations. In conclusion, North Korean political leader, Kim Il Sung mobilized his people in political education, orienting them to be convinced of the justification of his dictatorship called “U-il System(the one-man ruling system)”.
