The purpose of this study is to clarify the function and meaning of ``-go iss-``, ``-eo iss-``. First, I discuss the function and meaning of ``-eo iss-``. Many Korean linguists tried to investigate the function and meaning of ``-eo iss-`` up to the present, but they couldn`t explain the reason why ``-eo iss-`` could not be combined with the transitive verbs. In this paper, I insist that ``-eo`` in ``-eo iss-`` is related to ``-eoseo``, and ``iss-`` works like the main verb which means "the existence of something". Therefore I clearly explain that ``-eo iss-`` can`t be combined with the transitive verbs, because the transitive verbs can not be used in ``-eoseo iss-`` construction. Second, I discuss the function and meaning of ``-go iss-``. ``-go iss-`` means the progressive and the duration of completion, but most of Korean linguists could not explain why ``-go iss-`` means both of them. So I insist that there are two different ``-go iss-``, one of them means the progressive, the other means the duration of completion. On the one hand, ``-go iss-`` means the progressive, when ``iss-`` functions as a auxiliary verb. On the other hand, it means the duration of completion, when ``-go`` is related to ``-goseo`` and ``iss-`` functions as a main verb.
