I am often asked what leisure is to myself. It is not easy for everyone to answer exactly because there are a variety of concepts. This study aimed to try re-conceptualization of leisure in contemporary studies and give a new glance through limitations of those. Although there are some theories, the study focuses on major theories including leisure as time, leisure as non-work activity and leisure as attitudes.
Even if the theories have such limitations as quality of leisure time, social involvement and illegal behavior, nature of leisure is giving pleasure to individuals as Aristotle said so. As a result, we have to admit that concepts of leisure have been changing and will go on.
There are two fundamental reasons why concepts of leisure change. One is that all of people have different concepts of leisure. The other is that concepts of leisure have different connotations, adapting to times.
The study insists that a government make appropriate leisure policies and funds enough to set up right a leisure culture and support a quality of leisure for people.
