This study focuses on the cases that -(i)na, generally assumed to be a disjunction particle in Korean, connects constituents smaller than a clause. We find it interesting that an -(i)na phrase can be interpreted as a conjunctive phrase under certain circumstances. It has been widely studied under the name of Free Choice Effect that disjunction is interpreted as conjunction under the scope of possibility modal expressions. However, the circumstance where -(i)na is interpreted similar to conjunction is not restricted to the modal environment. More interestingly, the issue whether an -(i)na phrase can be interpreted in a conjunctive fashion or not turns out to be intimately related with a distributive property of a predicate and its thematic role. This cannot be explained by simply assuming algebraic join or union as the function of -(i)na. Instead, I suggest that the concept of plurality suggested in Link (1983) and distributivity explains the pattern of -(i)na interpretation in various environments. Based on those explanations, -(i)na is analyzed to be bound by a Cover operator(Schwarzschild 1996) and to form a cover of its complements. This cover is necessarily connected to the distributive interpretation. This leaves a possibility that this function of forming a cover might be expanded to its application at the proposition level.
