The color of flowers depends on luminous environments. This study aims to investigate the color appearance, quality satisfaction and preference according to the color temperature and illuminance of the light source for each color of roses, and to determine the effect of each variable on the consumer"s purchase intention. Each variable was assessed using a Likert 5-Point scale. Sixty images of roses of five colors were used as experimental stimuli. The results are as follows. First, while color temperature had an effect on color appearance, quality satisfaction and preference in case of white, red, purple and pink rose, it did not in yellow rose. Second, in case of white, red, yellow and pink rose, luminance had an effect on color appearance, quality satisfaction and preference, but in purple rose, it did not have an effect on color appearance. Third, white rose showed a significant interaction between color temperature and illuminance. However, for yellow rose, the interaction between color temperature and illuminance was significant only for preference, while for purple rose, it was significant only for quality satisfaction. Lastly, for rose of all colors used in the experiment, quality satisfaction and preference, except color appearance, had an effect on purchase intention.
