In this study, I wanted to look back on the “Museum Our Kkum-maru” an education program for the disabled operated by the National Museum of Korea, and based on this, I wanted to find out what ways to develop the program for the disabled. As the number of people with disabilities is increasing, the museum also thought that there was a need to develop education programs for the disabled in line with the increasing trend of the disabled.
The National Museum of Korea has been operating various programs for the disabled since 2003. “Museum Our Kkum-muru” is an education program for the disabled operated by the National Museum of Korea from 2013 to the present. This study looked back on the programs conducted from 2013 to 2022. Based on its finding, this paper suggests that first, development directions such as the need to operate programs that encompass various disabled people; secondly, the study of efficient online education methods; and thirdly, the expansion of instructors for the disabled.
Recently, the gap between the disabled and the non-disabled is also narrowing through various contents related to the disabled provided by TV programs and YouTube. It was an opportunity for this study to think that educational programs for the disabled operated by museums and art galleries could also play this role, The first purpose of this study is to create a museum program that many disabled people can enjoy participating in, and furthermore, the final purpose is to reduce the gap between the disabled and the non-disabled.
