Chitosan is a high molecular weight, biodegradable natural substance. Owing to the proven safety of chitosan, it is widely used in various areas, especially in the adhesion for mucin and biodegradable. In this study, an adhesive was synthesized using a combination of chitosan and an adhesive base containing distilled water, thickener, antioxidant, silica, ethanol, and emulsifier. To evaluate the chitosan-based adhesive, it was compared to other commercially available products such as spirit gum. The chitosan-based adhesive demonstrated antimicrobial activity based on the presence of an inhibition zone. As shown by the 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) cell viability assay, the chitosan-based adhesive recorded more than 80% of cell viability across the whole range of tested adhesive concentrations. Centrifuge and cycling tests confirmed that neither material separation nor a change in the physical characteristic and shape of the test sample was detected. The viscosity of the chitosan-based adhesive was higher than that of spirit gum, whereas the tensile strengths of the chitosan-based adhesive and spirit gum were 2.20 ± 0.11 and 0.47 ± 0.05 MPa, respectively. The usability of the chitosan-based adhesive was evaluated by an expert test group using spreadability, adhesiveness, application sense, persistence, and removability as the usability parameters. Our results showed that the chitosan-based adhesive provided higher user satisfaction in all of the tested categories with the exception of spreadability. Therefore, the chitosan-based adhesive has great potential for development as a commercially viable cosmetic adhesive product
