This study is to explore the reason why the homeless have difficulty quitting homelessness. In order to answer this question, this study does participation-observation for the life of the homeless on the street, looking into the dynamic process of becoming homeless and exiting homelessness. In this context this study traces the barriers to getting off homelessness.
The homeless are much more likely to have poor resources, technology, and supporting relationships due to the long term social exclusion. Even these poor resources are completely exhausted in the process of being homelessness. Accordingly the homeless barely survive on the minimum living of the homeless and the attempts to quit homelessness come to fail because of the high barriers of the mainstream society.
Since they have become the homeless owing to absolute poverty, it is very hard for the homeless to exit homelessness. Since they manage the life of a single homeless(the instability of home or home address), which is the end result of adaptation to the homeless ness, it is highly possible to be excluded from the public welfare system at the first place.
Based on these analyses this study suggests the followings: 1) The systematic supporting policies are required for the successful homelessness quitting. 2) The public should be aware that the homelessness is the extreme result of the social exclusion and make great efforts to integrate the society.
