Today as the smart devices spread, TV viewers retrieve additional information or show a tendency to talk with other users about TV programs through smart devices. Thus, a smart device that is responsible for functions complementary to the TV watching is called second screen. The convergence of using second screen and SNS services is called ‘Social TV’ that has 5 key factors. Among the factor, ‘Conversational connectivity’ factor means the TV viewer wants continuous and seamless communication with others in this Social TV. However, currently they provide functions such as SNS sharing or commenting for conversational among TV viewers, but only a temporary communication for contents. These are not supported by ongoing communication. In this research, we propose an appropriate group recommendation process to solve this problem. The process measures the degree of interest by the TV program with the TV viewer’s current SNS history. Based on the data, the process classifies TV viewers to similar group by applying k-means clustering algorithm. Finally we tested the feasibility of improving conversational connectivity of Social TV through an experiment.
