This article was written to search for ways to systemize learning elements related to Japanese history in secondary history education. For this, observations were made of the present conditions of learning elements related to Japanese history by school level and by subject.
Next, discussions for learning element systemization pointed out that it should not be treated as the taxidermized collection of researchers nor should it just be simple intellectual play, but that attention should be given so that it can actually be useful to learners. Additionally, discussions were made that, as trends are showing that students who do not experience high school 〈East Asian History〉 and 〈World History〉 education in their lifetimes are increasing, thought should be given to how Japanese history education will be conducted in middle school 〈History〉 and high school 〈Korean History〉 courses and that methods selecting current ‘history fields’ of middle school 〈Social Studies〉 in Japan can serve as models.
In conclusion, the activities and practice cases of the recently made ‘the Korean Association for Japanese History’ were introduced with anticipation towards full discussions on an academia level for the systemization of learning elements in world history fields and in particular, Japanese history fields. Further, selection standards for Japanese history related learning elements were shown and perspectives on “sequence within continuance” were presented as broad principles of learning element systemization.
