The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of youth’s participation in the youth management commission on their life competency. For this purpose, this study collected data from 172 youths affiliated to the youth management commission. The finding show that youth’s participation levels were relatively high. Although differences were found in the averages, the participation levels of the sub-areas of cognition, emotion, and behavior were high and that of cognition was slightly higher. While participating in the youth management commission activities, their life competency also changed positively. As for the sub-life competency, the greatest changes were found in democratic citizenship competency and interpersonal competency. In addition, the participation levels in the youth management commission had a positive effect on the changes in their life competency. Among the participation levels of the three aspects, only that of emotion had significant explanatory power. The finding of this study provide that the youth management commission is an important participation activity that changes the life competency of youths.
