The government is pursuing a significant expansion of the supply of hydrogen buses based on large-scale demand in order to expand the supply of hydrogen vehicles, mainly buses. The number of hydrogen buses, which was 582 in November 2023, is planned to be significantly expanded to 2,700 in 2024, 9,000 in 2027, and 21,200 in 2030.
Additionally, the government plans to expand and distribute hydrogen filling stations to enable hydrogen filling anywhere in the country. First, the number of filling stations is planned to be expanded from 274 as of November 2023 to 385 in 2024, 450 in 2025, 550 in 2027, and 660 in 2030. In line with the government's hydrogen policy, the number of companies wishing to manufacture hydrogen cylinders is increasing, and the number of filling station parts manufacturers is also increasing. The three main valves that make up the supply piping for hydrogen filling stations can only be supplied to domestic hydrogen filling stations by companies that have received KS certification in accordance with KS B ISO 19880-3. Hydrogen cylinders can only be supplied to car manufacturers by companies that have received a design stage inspection from the Korea Gas Safety Corporation in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. In this paper, we will review domestic and international laws and regulations regarding hydrogen filling stations operated at ultra-high pressure(70Mpa) and the parts that make up the supply system for hydrogen vehicles.
