Among various reflexives in Korean, casin is usually studied in comparison with caki, and it has been pointed out that they differ each other in many respects. Till now, however, some crucial issues remain unclear: (i) whether they belong to SE-anaphors or not, (ii) why casin shows peculiar person restrictions which are quite different from the one caki exhibits, and so on. To answer these questions, this paper focuses on the variation/alternation pattern of the 1st/2nd person blocking effects observed with Chinese reflexive ziji. After showing that casin is also sensitive to the 1st/2nd person blocking effects in some specific environments, it is claimed that some (maybe all) patterns of the person restrictions that casin exhibits can be understood in a similar way to explain how the 1st/2nd person blocking effects of ziji vary along with the syntactic properties of long-distance binding. Taken together, we propose that the person restrictions of casin and the 1st/2nd person blocking effects of ziji are classified as sub-types of the same person constraint.
