The purpose of this study is to analyze the pronunciation anxiety of Chinese learners and suggest effective teaching methods. Chinese is one of the most difficult languages to learn and teach due to its characteristics such as tones, and these difficulties can lead to learner anxiety. Pronunciation anxiety and lack of confidence, especially in the early stages of learning, can lead to difficulties in overall Chinese speaking instruction. This paper analyzes the pronunciation anxiety of students who took a beginner-level Chinese course at D university based on a survey. First, the anxiety factors such as evaluation and correction anxiety, learning and pronunciation strategy anxiety, native speaker interaction anxiety, and comparison anxiety with others were presented. Then, it was checked whether there were differences in the anxiety patterns by learner variables and identified factors affecting anxiety levels. It is hoped that the educational suggestions in this study will be useful for future Chinese pronunciation education and research.
